The responsible use of social media in the classroom can be a very effective learning tool. The technology available to access material and ideas quickly helps streamline teacher's lesson planning and makes student learning more effective.
Technology makes it easier for teachers to meet the standards set for them. It allows teachers to effectively communicate with students, parents and colleagues ( Standard #6). Teachers are able to communicate with parents through e-mail, social media or class websites. Through technology, teachers can collaborate with other teachers around the world to compare strategies that are effective in the class. This allows teachers to continue personal professional growth (Standard # 7).
